The eight pages of text were written by Pietro Fraticelli the text entitled "History around the life of Dante Alighieri " Presents the initial letters printed in lithography in red and gold. The four pages of text are not numbered photolithographic reproduction and translation of the "Judgement of March 10, 1302 Singing Gabbrielli, mayor of Florence, with which he condemns Dante Allighieri (sic) and fourteen other people to be burned alive. Half parchment dishes in marbled paper label attached to the front plate.

Pietro Fraticelli , was born in Florence in 1803, he lived and died in 1866, studied at the Schools Pie, Accademico della Crusca, letterato e Dantista, libraio e stampatore. Compilò trattati di aritmetica e di algebra. Autore di un commento alla Divina Commedia e delle annotazioni alle Opere minori di Dante. Nel 1861 pubblicò la “ Storia della vita di Dante Alighieri” , corredata da numerosi documenti , edita a Firenze da G. Dante Alighieri , was born in Florence, between May 22 and June 13, 1265 and died in Ravenna September 14, 1321, was a poet, writer and politician. 1865 and sixth centenary of the birth of the poet and the first year of the capital to Florence . This coincidence allowed to celebrate in contemporary the author of the famous Comedy, considered the father of the Italian language, and the particular historical moment , where the newly unified Kingdom of Italy was looking of legitimacy and the tutelary deity of a prestigious, well-embodied by the Great Poet.

Celebrations Dante saw in the peninsula in 1865 the collection of cash contributions for the erection of a monument to Dante in Florence. The organizing committee, formed for the purpose since 1857, had appealed to all municipalities of the Italian cities, "not excluding those subject to Austrian rule," because that would give assistance.

Florence was the capital of Italy since 1865 al 1871.
