Slanted Ceiling Closet

editions of "De Imitatione Christi" or "Imitation of Christ."

Collecting the printed editions of "De Imitatione Christi" or "Imitation of Christ" is a choice is not without its interesting cultural discoveries. You can find the translations carried out in many European languages, the elegant and exciting rarities, many times are not listed in the bibliography.

This religious text is the Bible, the most common Western Christian literature. Subject of this work is the way forward to achieve perfection ascetic, following in the footsteps of Jesus was written the Latin language during the periodo medievale.

L'opera is divided into four books. The first Book or Book of the imitation of Christ and contempt of the world and all its vanities. " The Second Book or "Indoor conversation." The third book or "Indoor comfort" and the fourth book or "Book of the Sacrament of the Body of Christ." It begins with the proclamation of the pettiness of material things and the stress to their dropping out, and turn to Christ and qualities such as: charity, obedience, meditation and contrition. The second part says that it is impossible to escape the suffering, identifying it as a means to enter the kingdom of God The third and fourth part, written in dialogue form, see the exaltation Eucharist as a means of union with Christ

The principal biography is written by Augustin De Backer , de la Compagnie de Jesus , entitled "Essai bibliographique sur le livre De Imitatione Christi " printed Liège by Grandmont-Dondres in 1864, the author claims to have heard of more than 2900 editions. Other authors who can see are the Melzi with "anonymous works", the Ant. Alex Barbier with "Dissertation sur soixante traductions francaises de L ' Imitation de Jésus-Christ et sur ving-cinq éditions de L'interelle consolation " printed in Paris by Lefevre in 1812, Brunet, the Canterzani and Brooks.
